This ceremonial  huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three -striped cotton panels. The brown warp stripes are “ixcaco”, hand spun naturally brown cotton.

The panels are joined by hand-embroidered and decorative seams in silk. The traditional collar design is embroidered in silk as well as the bird patterns. The purple is a natural dye from shells.
